Shotlist
Traces the development and discusses the importance of specialization in American industry and agriculture, against a background of modern folk ballads sung to guitar accompaniment.
Ken Smith describes this film: "NOBODY can be independent these days!" And that's a good thing. Much praise for fifties' hive mentality and robotic, assembly-line "specialists." The whole thing is linked together with a Woody Guthriesque folk song, I guess to make you believe that it's liberal and progressive instead of something thrown together by an advertising agency.
